CX-7 antenna for Mazda3

Due to poorer FM reception from my previous Spoon Sports’s Antenna. I decided to hunt for another alternative. After some research, manage to get the Mazda CX-7′s antenna as a very good substitute. It fits nicely into the Mazda3 antenna socket. The length of this antenna is about 7 inches. The original stock for Mazda3 is 20 inches and the Spoon Sports is only slightly more than 4 inches. Of course, length of the antenna plays a part. However, for those prefer shorter antenna for cosmetic purpose, is better to go for the shorter ones like the Spoon Sports’s Antenna. But not too short as the radio’s reception will suffer.
When do a scan test at the basement car park. The stock Antenna could get 36 stations, CX-7′s antenna could get 25 stations and the Spoon Sports could only get 5 stations. For this CX-7′s antenna, it is cheaper and only cost half as compare to stock. Very value for money in my opinion.
Actually, the Spoon Sports’s antenna still could receive all the stations which I normally listening to. If you know the station frequency, you could manually adjust to it and it will still receive pretty well. However, it only does not do as well during the scanning test and also when the car is in hard to receive areas; like the car park basement. Most areas in Singapore is still able to receive pretty well since we stay in a small country.
I have came across someone in the web claimed that those shorter ones like 2 inches are really solely for cosmetic purpose and could not really make it for FM reception. Many claimed that the minimum length to go for is at least 5 inches. I somehow agrees. Happy hunting for your car antenna. Cheer.
